About the Company
Hollard was established in the 80’s, today they are a Pan-African insurer, and Mzansi’s largest privately-owned insurance group. They offer a wide range of life, short-term insurance, and investment products, serving individuals, small businesses, and multinational corporates.
The Challenge
Hollard Life had a fully underwritten product which only had a manual channel that required several manual processes that were both expensive and significantly delayed getting a policy on book. These included:
- Manually filling in, printing out, signing, and emailing the application form.
- Manually capturing the information from the application form into the backend systems.
- Manual underwriting and assessing all applications.
- Manual AVS and FICA checks.
Our Solution
Our team created a new broker portal where the full process can be done online and in digital format. This includes capturing, automated medical underwriting, AVS/FICA checks, and digital signing, which could get a policy on book in a few hours vs a few weeks!
Using our in-depth knowledge of the business and system landscape, our team assisted with all aspects of this project which included design, architecture, development, and integration. The business first attempted a POC using a different team that utilises a RAD tool, which our lead consultant Chris Boshoff, personally raised many concerns over. After the POC was proven unsuccessful, our team was given the go-ahead, and we delivered on-time with minimal issues.
Part of the success of this project was how well the different teams worked together and managed the integration points.
Benefits for the Client
Making it easier and quicker for brokers to sell Hollard policies. Reducing the time to get a policy on book has a significant cost implication. Eliminating manual processes saves time and money, but also frees up staff to work on more important and valuable things.
New features and improvements are continually implemented to provide further benefits.
