To streamline and modernize their claims processing capabilities, Hollard Australia selected Guidewire ClaimCenter, a globally recognized core system for property and casualty (P&C) insurance carriers. The solution enables advanced claims management, from first notice of loss (FNOL) through to settlement, and supports a range of customizations through Guidewire’s proprietary GOSU language.
The Challenge
Guidewire custom development presents a unique resourcing challenge. The platform requires certified professionals trained in the GOSU language, a niche programming language rooted in Java, and demands proficiency with Guidewire Studio (a custom build of IntelliJ IDEA), as well as modern DevOps practices.
At the time, there were very few certified Guidewire developers available in South Africa, especially those with both technical depth and industry experience.
Our Solution
The main implementation team, located in Australia, led the deployment of Guidewire ClaimCenter. However, as the system matured, the need for dedicated support and maintenance arose, particularly to handle custom enhancements, bug fixes, and day-to-day system reliability tasks.
To support this, Hollard Australia South Africa, a support office established to provide off-shore IT services and claims processing, needed to onboard senior-level, Guidewire-certified professionals.
To meet Hollard’s requirements, CyberPro Consulting identified and upskilled a select group of experienced software consultants to become Guidewire Certified Developers.
One of our senior consultants, Gareth Nesbitt, a Software Architect with deep experience in the financial services and insurance industries, played a key role in supporting the Guidewire implementation. Gareth worked closely with both the Australian and South African teams to ensure alignment, stability, and performance of the claims platform during its early support phases.
Our consultants operated remotely across time zones, maintaining high levels of responsiveness and collaboration with Hollard’s in-house teams.
